At our Rinas school by Filippo Centineo, based in Bagheria, we offer SAW Submerged Arc Welding (in AWS terminology) welding courses, i.e. continuous wire submerged arc welding under slag protection.
For this process to succeed in the most efficient way, the arc strikes under the amount of heat which, shielded by the slag, remains localized in the welding pool, allowing operation with high welding and deposition speeds.
Continuous wire arc welding can be fully automated, so that longitudinal welding can be performed in a flat and circumferential position on positioners.
If you wish to retrain as professionals or offer refresher or initial training courses to your employees, do not hesitate to contact us.
Continuous wire arc welding is usually preferred in those industrial sectors where very thick steel sheets are used, or where the welds to be carried out are particularly long.
In detail, the procedure consists in generating a welded joint between the two steel elements through the use of a submerged electric arc, which "runs" under a layer of granular flow.
This layer generates a protective gas shield, and for this reason a shielding gas is not necessary. The arc is therefore completely submerged under the flux layer and cannot be seen while welding.
